Portsmouth Harbor Cruises

Having sold our boat when we moved down from Maine, we tend to play “tourist” when we need our ocean fix.  There’s nothing more relaxing than a cruise in Portsmouth Harbor.  Here are two Portsmouth traditions to choose from:

The Heritage is a smaller boat that offers cruises several times per day.  They go up and down the Piscataqua River all summer and into the fall for some lovely foliage cruises.  Check out their website at www.portsmouthharbor.com

The Thomas Laighton is a larger ship that offers a variety of excursions including trips out to the Isles of Shoals.  It also offers evening cruises with live music for the dancing crowd.  For more info check our www.islesofshoals.com

The Music Hall-Portsmouth

Designated an “American Treasure” by the national Historic Trust and National Park Service, The Music Hall is a gem of a Portsmouth venue.  Offering live music of many genres, dance, plays, film.  For more info visit www.themusichall.org

Exeter Festival of Trees

If you want community involvement, attend the Festival of Trees.  People line up on the closed-to-traffic streets to view and bid for the 50 trees decorated by sponsors.  Merchants offer discounts and treats and more lines form to have their photo with Santa or go on a horse-drawn wagon ride.  This is all kicked off by the lighting of the street decorations which are done by the Chamber and its members.  As a member, I can vouch for how much the Exeter Area Chamber supports its members and the town.  Go to www.exeterarea.org
